What is Corozo?

Corozo is made from the nut of the Tagua Palm. The nuts are harvested from the plant after they drop to the ground. Corozo is porous so it takes dyes readily and can be dyed with low-impact dyes.

It's wonderfully smooth texture and natural durability has earned it the nickname 'vegetable ivory'.

Origins + Certifications

  • Certified according to OEKO-TEX standard 100
  • Designed in Denmark, made in Turkey.

Care Instructions

  • Machine washable up to 40 degrees without bleeding or losing colour.

* A note on natural materials. Corozo has a natural grain and variation, much like wood, so no two buttons are exactly alike. You may notice subtle variations in colour and tone between individual buttons. This is completely normal and part of what makes natural materials so lovely.

Why We Love Corozo?

Corozo is fast becoming one of the most popular natural materials for buttons. Lightweight, durable with a unique natural beauty it is the ideal alternative to regular plastic buttons and a popular choicie in higher end designer pieces.

Here's a few more reasons why we are corozo converts:

Durability – Strong enough for everyday garments and long-term wear

Smooth to Touch – Beautifully smooth and tactile

Rich Colour Potential – Dyes absorb deeply for vibrant, long-lasting colour

Lower Impact Dyeing – Absorbs dye efficiently, reducing water and resource use

Natural Beauty – Subtle grain adds individuality to each button

End-of-Life Friendly – Beautiful enough to keep and repurpose but also with the potential to biodegrdade without leaving microplastic pollution.
