An exquisite pair of high quality thread snips that celebrates the traditions of the Japanese Samurai. I am expertly crafted in Tokyo with the utmost care, one pair at a time, by artisans with a commitment to excellence.

Featuring the Ibushi Long Blade, my narrow blade allows easy access to hard-to-reach areas. I perform beautifully not only for cutting threads, but also for unpicking stitches.

I come wrapped in the timeless beauty of kimono fabric upcycled from the 1970s to early 2000s. Choose between two Furoshiki wrap styles:

    • HANNARI – bright and graceful with refined elegance.
    • KIRIRI – calm and sophisticated with a modern edge.

The exact pattern remains a delightful surprise and the collection is constantly evolving, making a truly one-of-a-kind piece.

Fun Fact: The methods of crafting Japanese scissors were adapted in the Edo period (1603-1868) from the methods of forging Japanese Samurai swords. My maker, Shozaburo & Co., still uses these time-honoured techniques as part of a long lineage of excellent craftsmanship.

Size: 105mm length (47mm blade), 22mm width, 13mm handle depth

Materials: steel blade | upcycled kimono fabric in natural fibres

Producing Regions:

    • Snips by Shozaburo in Tokyo
    • Furoshiki by Matsumoto Shoten Ltd.
