SHOZABURO THREAD SNIPS | Pink Iga Silk Braid
SHOZABURO THREAD SNIPS | Pink Iga Silk Braid
I am an exquisite pair of high quality thread snips that celebrates the traditions of the Japanese Samurai. I am expertly crafted in Tokyo with the utmost care, one pair at a time, by artisans with a commitment to excellence. Beloved by sewing enthusiasts around the world, I am extremely sharp, cutting through thread and fabric with ease.
Iga silk braids (also known as kumihimo) cover my handles and make handling a delightful experience. Traditionally used in samurai armour, silk threads are wound by hand, woven into braids and dyed with rich colours, bringing out my unique lustre.
I am a treasure that lasts a lifetime.
Fun Fact: The methods of crafting Japanese scissors were adapted in the Edo period (1603-1868) from the methods of forging Japanese Samurai swords. My maker, Shozaburo & Co., still uses these time-honoured techniques as part of a long lineage of excellent craftsmanship.
